Food Service during School Closure

March 16, 2020

Dear Wellspring Prep families,

We know there are many questions surrounding the availability of food services during the emergency closure period. I am writing today to share our plan for providing nutritional resources to families during this time.

Beginning this week through the week ending Sunday, April 5, we are committed to distributing breakfast and lunch meals at Wellspring Prep to be prepared and eaten at home. Households may pick up breakfast (shelf-stable) and lunch (frozen, with reheating instructions) from our school at designated pick up times (see below). Please know, we will provide food for weekend days on the last distribution day of the week.

Pick up times will be between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays, while supplies last. The pickup will include breakfast and lunch during one stop at the school. The Tuesday pickup may be for enough meals for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; the Friday pickup may be for enough meals for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Students do not need to be present in order for parents to receive their child(s) meals. Items may be picked up from the school main doors. Families are not allowed to enter into the school building.

We have been, and will continue, to follow established best practices to reduce risk – much as we do during the cough, cold, and flu season. We have shared these best practices with you in previous notes sent home with your child, including:

  • Practice good hand hygiene
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes
  • If you are sick, stay home.

We are in unprecedented times and we thank you for your support and patience as we work to share timely, accurate updates with you. Please refer to the local news and GRPS for other meal sites that are open to the public during the three-week closure.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Wellspring Prep.
